Trap Neuter Return - TNR

TNR Saves The Community and Saves Lives

We typically TNR over 250 cats each year. Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) saves lives. Cats are humanely trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and given medical care before being returned to their outdoor homes. Each receives a small tip on the right ear—a universal sign that the cat has been sterilized and vaccinated—helping prevent unnecessary shelter intake and euthanasia.

TNR is the most effective and humane method of controlling the population of outdoor and community cats. It also allows us to treat injuries and illnesses among feral cats who prefer to live outside. Occasionally, we discover that a cat is friendly and has simply been abandoned; these cats enter our adoption program to find safe, permanent homes.

We perform TNR across San Diego County, saving the lives of adult cats and the kittens who would otherwise be born outdoors—while supporting the communities and businesses where these cats live.
