Community Cat Foundation was founded in 2015 as a result of doing trap neuter return. We discovered the need for finding homes for friendly cats abandoned outside, kittens, born to mothers that left them behind, and finding better solutions for rehab rehabilitation and medical care for Community Cats.
We are committed to providing a safe and loving environment for every cat in our care. Foster parents do an amazing job of socializing, providing top-notch food, and care, and getting Cats ready for adoption to their permanent homes. Our volunteers help us with playtime and enrichment and even train our cats to go into carriers.
We believe in finding the perfect match between our cats and their forever home. Our adoption process is thorough and personalized to ensure the best possible outcome for both the cat and their adopter.
At Community Cat Foundation our mission is to be advocates for cats living outdoors whether they are feral or socialized. We rescue, rehabilitate and find forever homes for cats in need.
Our mission is to identify and resolve the needs of community cats - and neighborhoods and businesses in which they reside - with specialty care and services. We provide boots on the ground rehabilitation, medical care and sanctuary. Services include sterilization and vaccination of feral cats, executing transfers from local shelters and rescues, and accepting cats and kittens found by direct rescue or brought by the public. A thorough placement program screens and evaluates applications to find permanent homes for socialized cats and kittens.
Our trap neuter return program has been key for neighborhoods from San Ysidro to Oceanside by resolving overpopulation, injuries, and rehabilitating unwanted cats. Behavior training and other resources are given to needy families, helping cats stay in their homes. We are often the only resource available to people who reach out to other organizations without success. Caretakers of cat colonies are supported with transportation, food, medical services, and supplies.
Programs. An adoption program accepts cats and litters of kittens from the public when turned away by shelters and rescues, provides specialty medical care to cats with serious injury or disease, and socializes and finds lifetime homes by matching cats to adopters via our thorough assessment program. We provide sanctuary and specialty care for cats with FELV, FIP and feral cats who cannot return to their colonies thereby ending unnecessary euthanasia for hundreds of kittens and cats. We are participating in a clinical trial for FELV to provide treatment and data to end this fatal disease. Our work with FIP has saved hundreds of cats since 2019. A mother and baby program accepts from shelters, the community, and direct rescue from field operations. Orphan kittens of any age receive life saving care.
Our foster homes and rescue facility provides a comfortable and safe space for our cats and kittens. We have spacious play areas and a team of dedicated caretakers and volunteers to ensure the wellbeing of every animal in our care. All cats need enrichment everyday. to give them enrichment , we have a variety of wonderful cat trees, scratching posts, cardboard box scratchers, an an amazing array of toys. have you seen a cat enjoy a laser pointer? they all love it. we occasionally play hunting games with them with freeze dried raw treats. we have even carrier trained several of our cats, so they dont fear going to the vet or to their new home. Volunteer today an help us socialize and care for our adoptable cats.
We have to special rooms in the rescue one for feral cats who have lost their homes, and the other for cats that are needing socialization in order to go to their permanent home. the feral cat room, has a real tree that has been built into a climbing gym, and we mount shelve and stairs on the walls so they can enjoy climbing at any time. Our socialization room is for cats that need time to learn how to trust people. the room has table and chairs for humans to sit and enjoy the time we spend with the cats, and even some comfy lounge chairs. and we allow the cats to climb on the furniture. the room has skylights to give cats a sense of ay and night and we have soft wool rugs so they feel like they're living in a home.
We help find the perfect match between our cats and their forever homes. Our adoption process is thorough and personalized to ensure the best possible outcome for both cats and the adopter. To adopt one of our cats, go to our adoption page and search for a cat by description. Take a look at each cat. Once you find the cat you like, there is a button that says start your inquiry now. Upon clicking the link, it immediately emails the adoption team who will answer any questions you might have. After you hear from the adoption team, you will receive an application, go through a virtual interview, and then will be guided to the foster home where the cats lives
Our process takes about 2 days and when you are approved you can take your kitty home the same day you meet them
